The Perfect Underdog
Two years ago, I was officially diagnosed with ADD. This adds one more item to my list of handicaps. I am 5’1, Chinese, female, and mildly dyslexic. I was transplanted from an all Chinese middle school in Hong Kong to a traditional English boarding school resembling the likes of Hogwarts in Sussex at the age of 14.
According to some scientific studies, a child’s linguistic ability slowly closes towards the age of 7 which makes 14 the worst time to start a new life, learning a new language in a foreign country. Result: My linguistic ability had been severely damaged. My English isn't perfect and neither is my Chinese.
I want to be a writer.
